Recently, in an interaction with Pinkvilla, Hrithik opened up on how he prepared himself to play Rohitin the movie, who was born mentally challenged due to an accident his mother (Rekha) met with when he was in her womb.
Hrithik said that growing up, he did not have a ‘cool’ childhood, so he could somewhat relate with Rohit. He said that academically speaking, there was a DNA match and he took a lot from his life to play Rohit. He said that he had experienced bullying when he was in school and had a stutter, so life had already given him the vulnerability that the character needed.
He further added that this, he thought was a great lesson in his life. He said that he found his calling from the movie and that once on set, the mask of a star and an actor would vanish.
He also said that it took him some 6 to 7 hours to read the script because after every 2-3 pages, he used to sit and cry. He felt a lot for the film and told his father (director Rakesh Roshan) that it was a mind blowing script.
