Speaking on Supreme Court hearing over Manipur violence, Advocate Vishal Tiwari on August 7 said that the Apex Court will set up an inquiry committee to look into the investigation, relief, remedial measures, compensation, rehabilitation.The top court further said that an IPS officer will supervise CBI investigations. Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Dattatray Padsalgikar will be in overall supervision of the probe.“Today the Supreme Court heard the Manipur issue and the state DGP and Chief Secretary were also present. The state has suggested a SIT and the total number of SITs is 42. The SITs will be headed by the SP of respective districts along with Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors. After hearing the submission, the court has reached the conclusion that the court will be dictating a detailed order and the framework has been announced by the court,” said Advocate Vishal Tiwari.“A three-judge inquiry committee will be constituted by the court which will be headed by the High Court Chief Justice. The SITs which have been constituted by the state government will be presided over by a former IPS officer,” he added.
