Lok Sabha Secretariat on August 07 restored the membership of Rahul Gandhi after the Supreme Court on August 4 stayed his conviction in the ‘Modi’ surname remark case. The Congress leader who was disqualified from the lower house in March 2023 was reinstated as the Wayanad MP. On restoration of Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said, “Speaker took the decision today. We followed the legal process and immediately after receiving the Supreme Court’s order, we restored it. ” He dismissed the Opposition’s allegations that there was a delay in restoring Rahul Gandhi’s membership.
