Lok Sabha today restored the membership of Rahul Gandhi after the Supreme Court on August 4 stayed his conviction in the ‘Modi’ surname remark case. The Congress leader, who was disqualified from the lower house, in March 2023 has been reinstated as the Wayanad MP. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reinstated his membership, as Supreme Court stayed Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a Defamation Case, providing him with a moment of reprieve. The Congress party is currently immersed in a jubilant atmosphere, celebrating a series of significant events. One of the noteworthy occurrences is the reinstatement of Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, as a member of the Lok Sabha. This legal development has added to the party’s sense of achievement and optimism. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, and other leaders of the Congress party expressed their joy for Rahul Gandhi’s reinstatement. Senior Congress leaders and party workers on Monday hailed Rahul Gandhi’s reinstatement as a Lok Sabha MP, saying it is a victory for truth and justice. Reacting to the development, Congress’ deputy leader in Rajya Sabha Pramod Tiwari said, “Truth has triumphed, and lies has been defeated. INDIA has won, our lion Rahul Gandhi has won, Modi Ji, your defeat has begun.”
