NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that while the special session of Parliament is short, it will be historic in many ways.
“This Parliament session may be short in duration but is big on occasion; it is a session of historic developments,” he said ahead of the commencement of the special session of Parliament.
“This is a short session. Their (MPs) maximum time should be devoted (to the session) in an environment of enthusiasm and excitement. There are a few moments in life which fill you with enthusiasm and faith. I look at this short session like that,” the Prime Minister said.
Parliament proceedings will be held in the new Parliament building, which was inaugurated by PM Modi in May.
“Tomorrow, on Ganesh Chaturthi, we will move to the new Parliament. Lord Ganesha is also known as ‘vighnaharta’, now there will be no obstacles in the development of the country… ‘Nirvighna roop se saare sapne saare sankalp Bharat paripoorn karega’… This session of Parliament is historic in scope,” he said.
PM Modi also seized the opportunity to highlight India’s recent achievements on the global stage.
“With the success of our Moon Mission ‘Chandrayaan-3‘, the Shiv Shakti Point – where our national flag has been hoisted – has become a new center of inspiration,” PM Modi said.
“Across the world, whenever there is such an achievement, it is viewed by linking it to modernity, science & technology,” PM noted. “When this capability comes before the world, several opportunities and possibilities knock at the doors of India,” he added.
Union minister of parliamentary affairs Pralhad Joshi on Sunday said that the special session will provide 5 sittings spread over a period of 5 days, besides informing that eight legislative items are likely to be taken up during this session.
